A mother who was shamed online for breastfeeding on a train hit back by sharing tender snaps of her feeding her daughter.
Cheryl Lee, 24, was wearing hot pants, high heels a ‘tube top’ when she whipped out her breast to feed daughter 21-month-old Calyn.
But an onlooker took a picture of Cheryl on the MRT train in Singapore on Tuesday afternoon and posted it online – slamming her for breastfeeding in public.
Shocked mum-of-three Cheryl hit back with tender pictures of Calyn suckling her and declared it was ‘’perfectly natural’’.
The pictures went viral with thousands of mothers backing her – while others said she should have been more ‘’tactful’’ and used a shawl.
Defiant Cheryl said: ‘’It would have been graceful of that person to inform me instead of taking a picture and reporting it on social media.
‘’Most people have been supportive, just a small number of people who haven’t.
‘’I had been to a dress fitting that afternoon and was on the way back. My daughter wanted a drink and I don’t like to use nursing covers because my daughter doesn’t like it.
”Those who suggest using a cover should try eating or drinking under a cover and see if you like it or not. I put my baby first so as long as she is comfortable and feeding well, I don’t really care what others think.”
Cheryl has two other sons, Caleb, seven, and Calen, four, whom she had both breastfed.
She said she had used covers and nursing bras for them but her daughter didn’t like them – so she had to take out her entire breast.
The Breastfeeding Mothers’ Support Group (BMST) branded her ”amazing” for ”nourishing” her daughter.
But writing online, David Chan said: ‘’This would make me feel uncomfortable if it was right in front of me. She is almost topless. She should show more consideration to other people.’’
Another mother told local media that Cheryl should have taken more care to cover up and done thebreastfeeding in a more ‘’tactful way’’.
